‘Bigg Boss’ Inmates Remember Jade Goody

March 23rd, 2009 by Jasbir Kaur |

ImageThey didn’t spend the expected period of time with her in the “Bigg Boss” house but her Indian co-stars are sad and upset at the news of her demise. They fondly remember the lively and always smiling Jade Goody. “I am feeling extremely sad to know about it (Jade’s demise). We were hoping that some miracle would happen and she would live for many more years,” TV actor and one of Jade’s “Bigg Boss 2? inmates Ketaki Dave, who is in the US, told IANS over telephone. Added another inmate and music reality show winner, Debojit Saha: “I can’t believe she is no more. It all happened so fast and suddenly that I am not able to come to terms with it. She was so lively and she always kept smiling.”

After scorching headlines for making racial comments against Bollywood actress and inmate Shilpa Shetty in Britain’s reality show “Celebrity Big Brother” in 2007, Jade came to India to participate in the second season of the Indian version “Bigg Boss” August last year. But she left the reality show after she was diagnosed with cancer. Apart from Jade and Ketaki, other female inmates of the “Bigg Boss” house were TV actor Rakhi Vijayan, item girl Sambhavna Seth, actors Payal Rohatgi and Monica Bedi, non-celebrity Elina and beauty queen-turned-actress Diana Hayden. Among the men were model-actor Zulfi Syed, MTV Roadies 5.0 winner Ashutosh Kaushik, TV actress Shweta Tiwari’s divorced husband Raja Chaudhry, Congress politician Sanjay Nirupam, Rahul Mahajan – son of late Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Pramod Mahajan – and comedian Ehsaan Qureshi. “It’s a very sad news. I was shocked to hear it despite knowing that she had to go eventually. I am all the more worried about her kids now as children (Bobby, five, and Freddie, four) at that age need their mother the most,” said Raja. “I remember how when her cancer was detected while she was in the ‘Bigg Boss’ house with us. We became really sad for her at that time and started praying for her. I also gifted her a Lord Shiva statue to help her overcome death but unfortunately nothing worked out,” he added.

Though Goody was expected to have a hard time considering the language barrier in the house, as contestants were supposed to converse in Hindi only, Debojit recalled how she used to hum the lines of Hindi songs. “We used to share a lot of stuff and used to talk a lot. In fact, she even used to dance and sing with us. She fell for the tune of the song ‘Dekha na hai re socha na’ and danced to it when I sung it in the house. She even memorised the lines and used to sing it,” he said. Added Raja: “Whatever time we were with her, we had a gala time. I remember how Payal used to interpret everything to her in English and Jade used to try to reply us back in Hindi. She was a gem of a person.” Debojit and Raja also prayed for the 27-year-old to “rest-in-peace” and strength for her family to go through it. Jade is survived by husband Jack Tweed, 21, and her two sons.

Ashutosh pulls out of Big Brother

January 15th, 2009 by Neet |

ImageWinner of Big Boss 2 who was supposed to be participating for Big Brother in UK has backed out of the show. The main reason behind it was his language, as he cannot speak in English and the show organisers refused to give him a translator. According to Ashutosh things did not work out as they refused to give him a translator and as he is not so good with the language and finds it difficult even here to catch some words he decided to back out.

But this Haryanvi is just not worried and has got himself another project. It’s a film with Kamal Khan a sequel to Deshdrohi where Ashutosh will be playing an important role. The first schedule of the film will be starting next month. Talking about his girlfriend Sonel, Ashutosh said that he was unable to woo her and she has refused to talk to him hence he has stopped trying to contact her. After his link up stories with Diana Hayden he now feels he should try his luck with her now.

Sambhavna Seth Talking Smack Again

December 27th, 2008 by Neet |

ImageSambhavna Seth has made no bones about not liking item queen Rakhi Sawant not very long ago. She had made her displeasure clear about the ‘Big Boss 1′ inmate and competitor during her stint at the ‘Big Boss 2‘ house. This, in spite of the fact that many especially her arch rival on ‘Bigg Boss’, Payal Rohatgi feeling that she was actually trying to mimic Rakhi on the show and be outgoing and a motor mouth like her.

Sambhavna who’s currently participating in the reality show ‘Dancing Queen’ however tries to paint another picture altogether. The show aired on Colors pairs 10 dancing divas with a protégé each. It’s being judged by veteran actors Hema Malini and Jeetendra.

Sambhavna has said, ‘If Rakhi joins ‘Dancing Queen’, she is not going to do any wonders. I have seen what she can do and I don’t want to see any further wonders from her.’

She’s added, ‘I don’t miss her on the show at all. Rakhi is quite senior in our league. She has done various reality shows and she has also become a judge. For her, its like, ‘been there done that’. There is no sense in her coming to ‘Dancing Queen’ because she has reached a senior level. And even if she comes, there is no issue, but I am not at all missing her.’

Rahul Mahajan doesn’t want to dance with Monica Bedi

December 20th, 2008 by Neet |

ImageSony television had approached Rahul Mahajan and Monica Bedi to participate in the upcoming season of their dance-based reality show Jhalak Dikhla Jaa. But the two of them refused the offer. Monica didn’t have dates as the actress is busy shooting for a film. According to our sources she is also working in another reality show. Monica said that she would have loved to be a part of the show as Jhalak Dikhla Jaa is said to be one of the best shows on television. She is grateful to Sony channel for approaching her. She also said that as she had already committed herself for a film and another reality show she couldn’t manage the dates for this show.

While Rahul is quite content with his role as a judge in Colours reality show Chotte Miyan. The politician turned entertainer didn’t wanted to be a participant again after participating in Bigg Boss 2. He surprisingly said that he couldn’t possibly judge a dance show when he himself had no clue about dancing. He concluded saying that each one of us have to make choices in life.

Well, Rahul and Monica’s chemistry surely added masala to the Bigg Boss’s second season and viewers would surely have loved to see the duo in action again.

December 19th, 2008 by Jasbir Kaur |

ImageAfter bagging the title of the indomitable ‘Roadie’ and the survivor of the ‘Bigg Boss’ house. Ahustosh Kaushik is now all set to go the Shilpa Shetty way and enter the UK’s biggest reality show ‘Big Brother’. Ashu will apparently enter the ‘Big Brother’ house on December 26 via wild card.

It was quite a task for Ashutosh to communicate with dear friend Diana in the Bog Boss’ house because Diana could barely speak in Hindi and Ashu could hardly understand English. And, now as Ashu enters the Big Borther house, he would b accompanied by a translator.“There will be a translator. So communication should not be a problem,” Ashu was quoted as saying. The show will be aired on VH1 channel. And, apparently it was the channel’s producer who approached Ashutosh with the offer.

Bigg Boss Ashutosh participates in Big Brother

December 19th, 2008 by Neet |

ImageASHUTOSH KAUSHIK, the winner of Bigg Boss Season 2 has now become a national celebrity. Now, the youngster will reportedly participate in UK based original show Big Brother. Ashutosh will leave for the British capital, London, on December 25. He will enter the Big Brother house in the second week of the show.

After actress Shilpa Shetty, Ashutosh will be the second Indian to be the part of UK’s popular reality show Big Brother. Shipla, who won the Big Brother title amid controversy, was also the host of Indian version Bigg Boss Season 2. Originally a dhaba owner from Saharanpur district of Uttar Pradesh, Ashutosh came into limelight after winning the MTV Roadies title. Due to his surprise win in MTV Roadies, he was selected for Bigg Boss Season 2.

Initially, Ashutosh was not a favourite to win the title, but later on he impressed all with his unique lifestyle inside the house. When Rahul Mahajan was evicted from the Bigg Boss house for breaching the show rules, Ashutosh turned as a hot favourite for title.

At last, Ashutosh clinched the Bigg Boss title and took away prize money of Rs 1 crore (10 million). Besides Ashutosh, other house inmates Rahul Mahajan and Raja Chowdhary were happy with the results. Bigg Boss was second reality show title for Ashutosh and some referred him as ‘King of Reality Show’.

Big Brother will be third reality show for Ashutosh after Bigg Boss and MTV Roadies, both of which he has won. Ashutosh is weak in English, how he will communicate with his UK’s house inmates it will be an interesting aspect? Another interesting aspect is will Ashutosh be part of any controversy like Shipla Shetty.

Will Ashutosh be lucky this time and win his third reality show in a row? It is really watchable, till the result of the show comes; let us see how Ashutosh fares in the UK show.

Big Brother USA debuts in India

December 19th, 2008 by Neet |

Big Brother, the extremely popular US show — like the desi Bigg Boss, is a version of the UK Big Brother (where the Indian actress Shilpa Shetty, right, famously faced, and overcame, racist jibes to win the show) — has made its debut in India. On Monday, Vh1 began airing the US edition of Big Brother: ‘Till Death Do You Part’ Season 9′.

Ashutosh Kaushik may have beaten all the odds to walk away with Rs1 crore, but there’s more than money on offer in Big Brother. Billed as the hottest season so far, 16 houseguests will compete for a cash prize of $500,000, and a chance to find, well, true love.

Bigg Boss, and its controversies, ensured extremely high TRPs, but will Big Brother be as popular? Bigg Boss fans seem to think so. Gurjender Singh Virdi, an executive editor with a national magazine, and an avid Bigg Boss viewer, says, “The best part of the show is the fact that it is spontaneous. Nothing seems planned, or scripted in advance, making it a good show.” A big fan of reality shows, he is looking forward to the Big Brother series, more out of curiosity. “I want to compare and see how the Indian version is different,” he says.

Divya Nair, a self-confessed fan, and a follower of both seasons of Bigg Boss, says, “These shows thrive on controversy, but are very real. I, personally, prefer this season to the last one.” Bigg Boss, for her, was far more interesting than the daily soaps. Her one complaint is that the Indian version was edited too much, denying viewers a peek into what actually goes on. “I am sure that the US version will be bigger, less edited and freer, in terms of content,” she says, adding that these are reasons enough for her to watch the new show.

For Lubdha Ogale, an associate account manager at a PR firm, the first Bigg Boss outdid the second one. She adds, “This season was more dramatised, and had little to do with reality. People were too bitchy.” Comparing the two versions is her primary reason for wanting to watch Big Brother. Besides, “They are showing it for the first time for an Indian audience, so I would like to see the approach.”

Big Brother promises to be different from the desi version. The season being aired on VH1 may be an old one, but for many it’s the first time they are exposed to an international Big Brother. And that has got the voyeur in them interested.

Ashutosh Kaushik from Bigg Boss to Big Brother

December 19th, 2008 by Neet |

ImageAshutosh Kaushik’s lucky streak continues. He first got lucky with ‘M TV Roadies’ which helped him to enter ‘Big Boss’. In spite of not being a known face he ended up winning the show. Now he’s all set to enter the reality show’s original –’Big Brother’ too. The dhaba owner from Uttar Pradesh will leave for London on December 25 where the Big Brother house is located and will join the show from its second week.

Ashutosh will be the second Indian celebrity to be a part of Big Brother, after Shilpa Shetty. We all know how popular Shilpa got right after ‘Big Brother’, thanks to the racism controversy. She became an international celeb. We wonder if he will get lucky again. The rate at which he’s marching ahead, he just might!

‘Bigg Boss’ got Dirty towards the end’

December 18th, 2008 by Jasbir Kaur |

ImageDiana Hayden, who was seen in Bigg Boss recently, tells Arwa Janjali why she did the show and how Bollywood is not her cup of tea Although one hardly hears of Diana Hayden otherwise, she has been quite talked about after she made a mid-way foray in the recent reality show, Big Boss. The former Miss World, whose close friendship with Roadie Ashutosh in the Big Boss house gave fodder to many gossip-mongers, describes her experience in the show as “fantastic”. “It was a learning experience. I learnt my Hindi and I learnt how to make rotis. Out of the eight weeks, six weeks were a complete blast. The last two weeks, I would want to forget,” says Diana.

Probe her further on her last statement and she clarifies, “The closer people came to the one crore, the more selfish, mean and bitchy they became. Things got dirty in the last two weeks. That’s when I decided to go into a shell. I didn’t want to be in the house anymore. Hence, I requested the viewers to vote for Aashu instead.” Since Diana lives in Los Angeles and is rarely in the limelight here inspite of winning the coveted title, one was shocked by her decision to be a part of Big Boss. What made her participate in this show? “I was travelling like crazy and needed a break. And when this came by, I thought it was a perfect way to relax, what with all the facilities like a readymade house, Indian food, etc available. Though I didn’t know I would have to cook (laughs). I hadn’t seen any of the Big Boss episodes prior to my entry,” informs she. But Diana confesses that through this show, she learnt how to live with the bare necessities in life.

Like her counterparts, this beauty queen didn’t take the obvious root to B Town and opted for television and anchoring instead. FYI: Diana hosts the series Biography on The History Channel. “Bollywood is not my scene. I prefer doing travel, live and award shows. Anchoring gives me a chance to be myself and that’s what I love about it. Besides, it gives me an opportunity to travel, which in turn recharges my batteries,” says the anchor enthusiastically.

Apart from anchoring, what keeps Diana busy is her elaborate charity work. She is associated with a number of organisations like Habitat and CAP in India, which is why she keeps coming here very often. From Aids, Breast cancer and education and shelter for the underprivileged, this beautiful lass has been at the forefront in taking up causes. So what is it about India that she loves the most? “Our colour, only if we would appreciate it,” she says instantly.

Big Brother now in India

December 17th, 2008 by Neet |

ImageFans of Bigg Boss have a lot to cheer about. Though season 2 has come to an end, people still have a chance to catch the original show that started it all. Big Brother Season 9 will now be aired in India on VH1. It promises to be bigger, better and hotter too.

There are 16 houseguests competing for a prize worth half a million dollars. Personality tests will be taken and the contestants have been paired up with compatible room partners. And hold your breath; they have to share a bed too.

There’s a gay couple and ex’s who have been set up with other people. Along with the money, the real winner end up finding a long lost soul mate. Unlike the desi Big Boss way of only pretending to be good friends, these people promise to be open and racy. Of course, the adult content will have to be censored for the Indian telecast. Even after the censorship, bet there’s a lot to look forward to.
